IC698CPE010 is the central processing unit of the GE Fanuc RX7i series. This device can control industrial machinery and material processes in real-time. It communicates with other devices and modules through the VME64 connection backplane installed on the rack.

IC698CPE010 has a 300MHz Celeron microprocessor capable of performing floating-point calculations. The standard speed for each Boolean function is 0.33 milliseconds per coil. The other functions of this device include but are not limited to the following: three embedded serial ports and two Ethernet ports, intra word reference support, symbolic variable support, test editing mode, and network data monitoring.

This device has 10 megabytes of RAM memory for data and programming information. This memory is powered by a CMOS battery. An additional 10 megabyte non volatile flash memory (NVRAM) is also provided. The operating system firmware data is stored in flash memory. You don't need to disassemble the device or replace the EPROM to update the firmware.

There are two methods to operate IC698CPE010: a three position run/stop switch and connecting the device to a computer and running appropriate software. This device can be connected to the computer through a serial or Ethernet port. Note: Using Ethernet ports requires IP addressing and Cat5 cables. For serial connections, use the SNP protocol. For the configuration and programming of this device, use the Proficy Machine Edition PLC-Logic Developer software on the connected computer. Configure data to be password protected.

When installing IC698CPE010, please follow the instructions in the product manual. Disable rack power. Record the Media Access Control (MAC) address of the device. Firmly install and ground the equipment to the first slot of the rack, the designated CPU socket. Connect Ethernet and serial ports. Re-enable the power supply to the rack. Connect the CMOS battery to one of the connectors. Start programming the device.
